12th year anniversary

well, here we are once again entering yet another anniversary of the eighth wonder of the world...the world's largest kaleidoscope! that's right, July 4th will be our 12th year amazing people from all over the world with an experience like no other. we still show the original show we opened with ...very 4th of July, lot's of American history blended with the psychedelic past of the 60's. in addition, there are two other equally fascinating shows to chose from. if by any chance you have yet to experience this phenomenon, there's no time like the present. if you are too far away for a day trip, bear in mind there are two wonderful hotels on the premises. while you are here you will be amazed by our collection of fine art kaleidoscopes, as well as cool, fun scopes for the kiddies. we are also in the process of planning some rather exciting events involving work shops and interactive experiences for the younger kaleidoscope connoisseurs. stay tuned for upcoming details in our newsletter. hoping to see you soon. be well and in light, linda

Aranea visited us from Mt. Carmel Christian School, Stone Mountain, GA, Mrs. Mayo's Fourth Grade

I went to The Emerson Country Store in Mount Tremper, New York it’s the home of the “World Largest Kaleidoscope”, made from a 60ft. tall silo in a 167 year old barn. There is a ten minute show in it, with lots of beautiful colors and pictures, and music to go with it. I had a really good time!
I learned a lot about kaleidoscopes. There are lots of diffrent kinds from artists all over the country (and world) who make them. The Kaleidostore at The Emerson Country Store has hundreds of Kaleidoscopes for children and adults.

Summer season

The summer season is officially here, along with our new website. Hope you enjoy visiting the site, and that you'll come and visit us in the Kaleidostore, too. Opening

After months of work, we are finally ready! Creating this site has been a tremendous learning experience in so many ways. I now know each and every kaleidoscope intimately! I’d like to personally thank our team of web designers from Grafiqa. They have shown great patience in dealing with a ludite like me. Never laughing (to my face) at my sometimes ridiculous, often naïve questions. I would also like to thank Iva, my tireless assistant, for spending hours organizing and cropping images and entering page after page of text.
I think the end product is well worth it. I hope everyone enjoys viewing the site as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. There is always more than one way to look at things

It’s a bright sunny day at the Kaleidostore and in walk two of my favorite customers. Now you have to understand these folks have purchased tons of Davis Kalish’s wedding scopes from me over the years, so I was expecting to wrap up another one. To my surprise, they bought two completely different scopes, the new American Woods scope by the Kittlesons and Magneto by the Parettis.
My curiosity got the best of me and I just had to know. How were all those couples they had purchased those wonderful gifts for? Were they happy? Were they still married?
After a few pensive moments, the reply was, “Yes, they are all fine, and still married!”
It made me think that they were defying the odds. Perhaps, it’s the kaleidoscopes; after all they are a metaphor for marriage. There is always more than one way to look at things or two people can look at the same thing but each see it very differently.

I was talking to Skeeter....

I was talking to Skeeter the other day and she passed this joke on to me. So I thought I’d share with y’all.

There’s this guy walking by an asylum and he hears, from behind a tall fence, patients on the lawn shouting 13, 13, 13. Curiosity gets the best of him, so he walks over to a hole in the fence. He looks in the hole and something pokes him right in the eye. Immediately from behind the fence he hears 14, 14, 14! So, before you go peeking in the notch holes, come peek at our cool kaleidoscopes. By the way we are waiting for Skeeter’s latest creation appropriately named “Rorschach”. There’s a definite theme here!
